Parkskolen was founded as an independent school in 2006. In those days it had 32 pupils across all years. Things have gone very well since then. Parkskolen now has more than 200 pupils.
We live in unique surroundings in the heart of Herning – in one of the few buildings in the town that are worthy of preservation, a place that was previously occupied by Herning Gymnasium.
The school was designed in 1951 on the basis of the revolutionary reform pedagogy of the age. With its wide doors and huge windows, the architects created a school offering plenty of light, air and space for inspiration.
Nowadays Parkskolen's pupils love attending lessons in this historical building, which covers an area of more than 2,600 sq m. Of course, it has been adapted for modern forms of teaching, but the concept of inspiring surroundings, light, air and space to learn is built into the school.
Indoors they have a canteen and dinner ladies who make sure the pupils are given healthy meals and snacks every day. Besides the light classrooms, our beautiful hall is the perfect place for meetings, lectures, Christmas parties and social activities of all kinds.
Outside, volunteering parents have made sure that the pupils have some inspiring, popular areas to play in, encouraging movement, friendship and chatting.
